HOPE: THE HERO INITIATIVE

Ronin Studios is proud to announce, in partnership with The Hero Initiative, a new charitable HOPE anthology.

About The Hero Initiative
In late 2000, a consortium of comic publishers came up with the idea to create a financial safety net for comic creators, much in the same fashion that exists in almost any other trade from plumbing to pottery. By March of 2001, the federal government approved The Hero Initiative as a publicly supported not-for-profit corporation under section 501 (c) (3).

The Hero Initiative is the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book creators in need. Hero creates a financial safety net for yesterdays' creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

About HOPE
The HOPE line of anthologies was created to help those in dire need. By bringing together established professionals and up and coming comic creators Ronin Studios is able help provide financial aid and awareness to many worthwhile causes.

SUBMISSION RULES AND GUIDELINES

We are accepting stand alone, full colour, pieces for this anthology. Please read through the submission guides for more details on the submission process.

Theme
As with all other HOPE anthologies, all stories for this project must inspire hope with a focus on helping those who have fallen by the wayside and need help. The stories can be based on superheroes or every day people; they can be serious or funny; cartoonish or true to life. The possibilities are endless.

Audience
Please keep all content PG-13 or below. We will not be accepting stories with content such as nudity, graphic violence, coarse language, etc.

Length and Format
Submissions must be no more than 8 pages in length. We will only be accepting coloured submissions, not greyscale or black and white.

The Process
Send a short synopsis to hope@ronin-studios.com with a subject of "HOPE: The HERO Initiative Submission". Keep it short (no more than a page) and explain the story fully. This initial pitch is to see if your story is suitable for the anthology. If an editor likes your pitch they will send you our production guide. Once you have this and have met all the requirements you can then send in the fully completed story (art, colouring, lettering, etc).

If your submission is accepted to be published into the anthology you will need to sign a release form, which will be supplied to you. All members of the creative team will need to sign and return a copy of the form before the story will be published in the anthology.

Updates for contributors will be given in the HOPE: The Hero Initiative Contributors section of our forum. If you haven't already registered you can do so here. Once you are registered send a PM to one of the forum administrators (Dustin Archibald, Jesse "Cadre" Hansen, Eric Williams, or Diana Greenhalgh) requesting access to the contributors forum.

Public announcements will be made on the main Ronin Studios website.

Deadline
Story pitches will be accepted until September 1, 2008. Final submission dates will be disclosed in the production guide.

PLEASE NOTE:

UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH THE EDITORS WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING FULLY COMPLETE STORIES (ART, LETTERING, COLOURS, ETC). WE WILL NOT BE ASSISTING IN MATCHMAKING CREATIVE TEAMS.

** This is a charity project. Contributors will be donating their time and skill to raise money and awareness for the HERO Initiative.
